Vice President Kashim Shettima says Nigeria’s low tax-to-GDP ratio is due to decades of citizens hiding wealth from the government. Speaking at a budget workshop by ANAN and CITN, Shettima said Nigeria holds great prosperity, but it’s not being used to build the nation.
He urged financial professionals to educate citizens on investing at home instead of stashing money abroad. Shettima emphasized the importance of the ₦54.99 trillion 2025 budget in tackling Nigeria’s $3 trillion infrastructure deficit.
With ₦41.6 trillion revenue projected and ₦13 trillion deficit, he stressed transparency and private sector collaboration. Experts praised the Tinubu administration’s reforms and urged effective budget execution to drive sustainable growth.
