The Anambra State Ministry of Environment led by the Hon. Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Felix Odumegwu has interacted with pressmen in a Chit chat held on Tuesday, in his office at Anambra State Secretariat.
The Commissioner said that the Anambra State Ministry of Environment in collaboration with the Anambra State waste Recyclers Association is set to hold the maiden edition of all Anambra Community Plastic Waste Recovery Challenge which is scheduled to kick off on the 8th of June.
He reminded all that were present that the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo in maintaining a clean, green, and sustainable Environment, has approved the “All Anambra plastic waste recovery challenge,” with this year’s theme “Solution To Plastic Pollution” which he said is a holistic approach to the solution to plastic pollution as the State moves with a clear vision towards a circular economy where plastics stay in use for as long as possible and starts a new life after an original life.
He noted that to achieve a plastic-free Anambra State, and to rid the State of 10,000 tons of plastic stuck in the streets, homes, drainages and waterways as the State is partnering with some Non-Governmental organizations like the Chikason Group, ASWRA and others in this project, as all hands must be on deck to practice the 5RS which are:
Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose and Recycle.
In explaining the 5r further, he said people should refuse to buy products that can be harmful, reduce the use of non- renewable natural resources, reuse or refill materials instead of dumping them and buying new ones that will be dumped too, repurpose to get materials that can serve several purposes and recycle all the basics possible.

Felix Odumegwu The Manager, Chikason recycling plant, Oluwafemi Akinyemi, pastor Ben Agape of Urban Ways dynamics, Hon. Princess Bibiana Nwankwo and other dignitaries.
