Residents of Anambra as well as companies in the state have been cautioned to desist from using unlicensed Private Guard Companies as they can be used to increase criminality in the state.
The state commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) , Mr Vincent Ogu , made this known on Tuesday when he welcomed the Association of Licenced Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN) , Anambra state chapter at the Command Headquarters, Awka.
In a press release by the NSCDC CDPRO, DSC Okadigbo Edwin, Commandant Ogu praised the collaborative efforts of the association as grassroot security in providing credible intelligence to the corps and other Security agencies to nip crime at the bud and encouraged them not to relent as the nation appreciates and expects more from them.
He also stated the need for private security firms to operate professionally in line with government’s expectations and embrace best standard operational practice. He also said that the command is ready to partner with the association to flush out quacks to sanitize the industry.
He stated the need for them to abide with regulations and renewal of operating licence.
In his speech, the chairman of Anambra State chapter of ALPSPN, Hon.Dr.Okon Autan said the purpose of the visit was to welcome the State commandant to the state and harmonize relationship between the association and the Corps as the statutory regulatory body for Private Guard Companies in Nigeria. He also said that the visit will also deepen collaboration, growth, innovation , lawful and bet practices in the Operations of Private Security firms in the state.
He also commened the efforts of the NSCDC in putting an end to get influx of unregistered Practitioners who deliberately refuse to do the right thing.
