Anambra State Government commences second phase of COVID-19 Vaccination.

The Anambra State has government has commenced the second phase of COVID-19 vaccination with seventy-one thousand, eight hundred and ninety-two doses.

The Executive Secretary/CEO, Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, (ANPHDA) Dr Chioma Ezenyimulu, who disclosed this in Awka, also revealed that the doses included 58,100 of Moderna and 13,792 of AstraZeneca Vaccines. 

She pointed out that the state received 78,810 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines in March, this year, for the first phase of the vaccination.

According to her, 62,167 Anambra people have been vaccinated for first and second doses, which represents 98 per cent of the target population.

Dr Ezenyimulu observed that the speedy discovery of COVID-19 Vaccines and the subsequent mass vaccination campaigns in countries of the world helped to drastically reduce morbidity and mortality of the disease. 

She further noted that a large percentage of people infected with the disease have recovered.

She, however, lamented the shortage of manpower and appealed to the state government to employ more health workers to address the capacity demand for effective service delivery.
