Anambra State Government informs citizens that border closure and other restrictions associated with it have ceased with effect from yesterday.

Anambra State Government has informed the public that border closure activities within the State and all forms of restriction associated with same has ceased with effect from yesterday, 30th June 2020.

This followed latest modifications by the Federal Government of Nigeria as announced by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 especially regarding the lifting of interstate travel ban within the country from today, 1st July 2020, except during curfew hours which is between 10pm and 4 am.

A release issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, said in view of this, Anambra State Police Command, other security Agencies and the public are to note that all Political Appointees and Community Youths earlier mobilised by Anambra State Government for border restriction activities across the State have been directed to stop exercising All assigned roles by 10pm curfew time of yesterday, 30th June 2020.

The release said team Leaders among Political appointees and Community youths have been further directed to take deliberate steps to actively ensure full disengagement accordingly.

The statement further revealed that enforcement of curfew especially at the borders will henceforth revert fully to the Police and other Security Agencies.

The Anambra State Government appreciated all who participated in the onerous task and thanked them for their dedication, passion and commitment, which made the assignment a huge success.

Government also placed on record, the immense cooperation and support of the Police and all security agencies in the enforcement of border restrictions while it lasted and spoke on further collaboration in the continued fight against the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
