Anambra State Government partners Micnet to hold Education Icons Award 2020 to Encourage Academic Excellence

Anambra State Government through the Ministry of Basic Education is partnering MicNet Concept International to honour One hundred outstanding personalities who have contributed to the advancement and development of the education sector in the state.

The Award tagged Educational Icons Award Nigeria 2020, and a day with His Excellency Governor Willie Obiano.

The organizer of the award ceremony, who is the Project Manager, Micnet Consult Nigeria, Engineer Mike Nebo, at a press briefing in Awka, revealed that the award which has once been organised in Enugu and Lagos states, would be in different categories which include the educational philanthropy for Financial contributions, best schools based on external examination performance, most friendly organisation supporting education and the most outstanding tertiary institution in Anambra state.

The Micnet Boss pointed out that the nomination and voting process would be done based on facts as there will be grassroots involvement targeted at selecting eminent persons, who are worthy of the honour.

Engineer Nebo commended the Governor Willie Obiano and the Commissioner for Basic Education Professor Kate Omenugha, for accepting to co-host the event and also praised the state for Its giant strides in education and business sectors.

Throwing more light on the Award process, the Organizer said that there would be writing, singing and drawing competitions for selected primary and secondary school students, and that in all, a cash prize of 3 million naira would be shared among the students in all the categories, while noting that  such competition would help to harness talents.

He called on the schools and students interested in the competition to pick up forms from the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) or Post Primary Schools Service Commission (PPSSC), or visit www.educationaliconsaward.com.ng

In her remarks, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Broadcast Media, Mrs. Ify Aronu Okafor, affirmed that Governor Obiano has always placed priority on education and described the award as timely as well as a way of showing gratitude to those, who have contributed to educational development in the state.

She said the nominees would be chosen based on their records, especially in the areas of infrastructural provision in schools, award of scholarships to students, capacity building to teachers, etc, in their attempt to invest in education.

Earlier, one of the candidates from Eagle Power College, Awka, who took part in an essay competition, Prince Chukwunemerem Ike, encouraged students and schools to key into the initiative, noting that such project exposes and harnesses students’ talents.
