Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Tony Olofu, has called for peace and tolerance among political parties as they commence campaigns ahead of the November 6 Governorship election.

The Police Commissioner made the call while interacting with the Parties representatives at the State Police Command Headquarters in Awka.

He said the call was necessary to sustain the existing public order and public safety and expressed their commitment towards working with other patriotic stakeholders in ensuring public order before, during and after political rallies.

A release issued by the Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the Police Commissioner, being the head of internal security in the state, would always be on the ground to coordinate the security deployment, as well as ensure that rallies are hitch-free.

He, therefore, enjoined members of the general public to coordinate themselves and cooperate with security agents in the course of discharging their constitutional duty.
