: Anambra State Police Command says it has recorded another breakthrough as Police Operatives have smashed A robbery and car snatching syndicate.
It also disclosed that three suspects were arrested, while two firearms, ammunition and a Toyota Highlander jeep allegedly snatched at gunpoint, were recovered.
In a release, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed, recalled that on the 23rd March of this year, at about 8:20pm, a Toyota Highlander jeep with Registration number APP 49 FM and other valuables belonging to one Christopher Oraukwu, were snatched at gunooint along Ekwulobia road in Aguata Council Area.
The Police PRO said following the report, police operatives attached to the Command Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) swung into action and had on the 23rd of this month, arrested some suspects which include Chidi Ugoji, aged 31years of Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government Area, Onyebuchi Okoye, aged 34 years of Umunachi and, Chigozie Onwe, aged 22years of Ikwo, Ebonyi State.
He said the suspects were arrested at their hideouts in Achalla/ Nkpor area and have voluntatily confessed to the crime.
The PPRO informed that exhibits recovered in their possessions include one pump action gun, one cut to size double barrel gun, four live cartridges, one Mitsubishi L300 bus used by the syndicate for their robbery operations as well as the snatched Toyota Highlander jeep.
Haruna further hinted that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
