The Beacon of ICT has been awarded to Anambra State Physical Board on eGovernment Solutions Implementation.
The award was presented to the Executive Chairman of ANSPPB, Barrister Chukwunwike Francis Maduekwe on Saturday, 24th July on the occasion of the 12th edition of the Beacon of Information and Communication Technology Lecture and Awards event which took place at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
In his remark after receiving the award, Barrister Maduekwe, who is also the Special Adviser to Governor Obiano on Digital Economy said the board polled the highest number of votes in the category during the voting star because of internet solutions it adopted in the state that crashed building approval processes and time from three months to one week or less. He noted that the process which was open to industry stakeholders was transparent.
He lauded Governor Willie Obiano for all his policies and programs aimed at improving access to broadband internet service in the state which according to him have a huge positive impact on the people and economy.
In his welcome address, the founder of Nigeria Communications Week (organizers of BOICT Awards), Ken Nwogbo said that this year’s theme which is 5G: Exploring New Frontiers For Superior Service Delivery, was adopted because of the buzz around the 5G network.
He said that if harnessed to the fullest, the 5G has the potential to feed the accelerated rise of the internet of things and enable a smarter and more connected world.
Speaking about the awards, Mr. Nwogbo said that the awards were merit-centric and designed to reward individuals and firms that have helped make life better for Nigerians.
