Head of Department, Health, Safety and Environment, HSE, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, Anambra State, Mr Udoka Izuka, has advised workers to, at all times, anticipate the possibility of outbreak of infectious diseases at workplaces and also be prepared to deal with them by adhering to all instructions and protocols issued by health authorities.
He gave the advice yesterday, during a Road Walk to mark this year’s World Day For Safety and Health At Work Places, observed on 28th April, every year.
The theme for 2021 World Day For Safety and Health At Work Places is “ANTICIPATE, PREPARE AND RESPOND TO THE CRISES”.
According to Mr Izuka, the Road Walk was to draw attention of all workers in Anambra State on addressing the outbreak of infectious diseases at workplaces, and in particular, COVID-19 pandemic.
Also speaking, Mr Austin Onwujei emphasized the need to have robust occupational safety and health system.
He advised employers of labour to provide a conducive working environment for their employees to ensure their safety and good health at all times.
Contributing, the Branch Manager, kaosi Ejidike, represented by Miss Ezinne Kalu, enjoined workers to always be conscious of their working environment as well as protect themselves from hazards and diseases, urging them to adhere strictly to stipulated measures against Coronavirus such as wearing face mask, social distancing, regular handwashing and use of sanitizer among others.
The road walk kicked off from NSITF Office to Aroma Junction, down to UNIZIK tempsite, to Kwata Junction back to Aroma Junction and terminated at ABS Station, Awka
Nose masks were distributed to workers and members of the public during the Road Walk.
