The newly posted Commanding Officer of the 14 Field Engineer Regiment, Onitsha, Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Awudu Enyia, has expressed his willingness to promote inter agency collaborations especially with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in the fight against drug abuse.
He stated this on Wednesday, July 30, when he paid a courtesy visit to the Anambra State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), CN Onubogu Charles Orakwue, Commander of Narcotics, at the NDLEA State Headquarters, Udoka Housing Estate, Awka.
Lieutenant Colonel Enyia, who assumed command of the 14 Field Engineer Regiment on 13th July 2026, was accompanied on the visit by some senior officers of the Regiment.
The visit was aimed at fostering a seamless and cordial working relationship between the Nigerian Army and the NDLEA, as well as familiarising the new Commanding Officer with key security stakeholders in Anambra State.
During the meeting, Lieutenant Colonel Enyia emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration among security agencies in addressing emerging security challenges.
He noted that the familiarisation tour was designed to strengthen existing partnerships and provide an avenue to deliberate on issues of common interest towards enhancing peace, security, and public safety across the State.
In his response, the Anambra State Commander, CN Onubogu Charles Orakwue, warmly welcomed the Commanding Officer and his entourage, congratulating Lieutenant Colonel Enyia on his recent appointment.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining the existing cordial relationship with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, stressing that effective collaboration remains indispensable in the fight against illicit drug trafficking, substance abuse, and other crimes.
The State Commander further assured the Commanding Officer of the NDLEA’s readiness to sustain intelligence sharing, joint operations, and other collaborative initiatives geared towards ensuring a safer and drug-free Anambra State.
