Weeks after ‘trucker-led” protests against Covid health rules broke out in Canada, the Canadian police on Friday began a massive operation to clear the protest – which had been clogging the capital, Ottawa for three weeks – with several arrests made and trucks towed away.
The so-called “Freedom Convoy” started with truckers protesting against mandatory Covid vaccines to cross the US border, but was eventually expanded to include an end to all pandemic health rules.
The movement saw blockades of several US-Canada border crossings, all of which have been lifted after the government noted it was costing the economy billions of dollars.
