Cape Verde Downs Nigeria’s D’Tigers in Opening Game of FIBA World Cup Qualifiers

Nigeria’s male basketball team, D’Tigers on Friday, opened their 2023 FIBA World Cup qualifier campaign with a 71 to 79 point defeat to Cape Verde at the Benguela, Pavilhão Multiusos Acácias Rubras in Angola.

Although, starting the game on a high note with a 20-18 lead in the first quarter, the 2015 African champions narrowly lost the second quarter 15-16.

Fighting their way back into the game with a 20-17 in the third quarter, they however dropped points in fourth quarter losing 16-28 points to fall 8 points behind Cape Verde on the final score sheet.

D’Tigers have a chance to redeem themselves when they take on Mali in the second qualification game on Saturday.
