The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reported some major seizures in recent times.
In a statement signed by the Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA intercepted cocaine and pharmaceutical opioids concealed in ladies’ sanitary pads and hair treatment cream containers heading to the United Kingdom, Ireland and Cyprus.
In one logistics company, officers recovered 30 parcels of cocaine weighing 1.1 kilograms hidden in hair cream containers bound for Ireland. Another 24 parcels of cocaine weighing 862 grams were seized in the same company, concealed in hair cream containers destined for the UK.
At another courier firm in Lagos, a total of 525 pills of tramadol 225mg and ecstasy hidden in ladies’ sanitary pads were seized, along with a shipment of 200 ampoules of promethazine injection and pentazocine injection concealed in food items and herbs heading to London.
The statement noted that the NDLEA remains vigilant in its efforts to curb drug trafficking and protect the country from the menace of illicit substances.
