In a homily to mark the event, Bishop Ezeokafor said that many Catholic Priests has written stories and books about Saint Joseph who work very well, but that no one recommended him for celebration, which was why Pope Frances decided to declare the year universally for him.

In appreciation, the Parish Priest of St Joseph Catholic Church, Umuawulu, Reverend Father Benyamin Odika, thanked Bishop Ezeokafor for giving them the opportunity to Host the August occasion.

Father Odika also commended the Chairman on the occasion, Barrister Nkem Anaekie, the traditional ruler of the town, Igwe Dr Joel Egwuonwu for their support.

He further appreciated Honourable Onyeka Nwosu who sponsored the Tree Planting in honour of Saint Joseph, as well as Chief Benjamin Atuka who built the statue of the Saint and all those who contributed to making the occasion a success.

Highlights of the event were the Blessing of Saint Joseph Statue and the planting of trees in honour of St Joseph by Bishop Ezeokafor.
