The Federal Government has announced that China is set to boost investments in Nigeria, a move aimed at revitalizing the economy. This follows President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to China and Nigeria’s participation in the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar revealed that several partnership agreements were signed during the visit, marking a new phase in China-Nigeria relations. He stated that Nigeria is eager to collaborate with Chinese companies in energy, mineral resources, and agricultural modernization.
China seeks to support Nigeria’s economic diversification efforts, focusing on sectors like the digital economy and green development. Both nations have also agreed to explore flexible regional monetary cooperation to facilitate trade.
Additionally, Tuggar said that Nigeria welcomed China’s initiatives on artificial intelligence governance and data security. The two countries are committed to fostering a transparent business environment and protecting the rights of each other’s citizens.
This collaboration promises to enhance Nigeria’s industrial reform and overall economic growth, paving the way for a prosperous future.
