Anambra State Government House Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Patrick Okafor has urged mothers to be at peace with God as they carry out daily activities to avoid breaking down over stress.
Fr. Okafor made the call at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church Amawbia during the expanded executive meeting of Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) of the parish.
The meeting was organised under COVID-19 protocols and in conformity with the Catholic Bishop’s directives.
Speaking to the women, the chaplain said that mothers were mirrors in homes and urged them to have personal relationships with God, noting that one’s uprightness would win credibility for the person.
The cleric cautioned women who pay little or no attention to their family to repent from such, while emphasising that such an attitude would undermine the progress of their family.
He explained that Virgin Mary played underground roles in the salvation of mankind, calling on mothers to emulate her virtues, noting that there must be an understanding for couples to live in peace.
Fr. Okafor commended the group for understanding the situation at hand that led to cancellation of the busy 2020 August Meeting, explaining that it was expected of the Church to do the needful during this pandemic era to avoid its spread.
Earlier, the Parish CWO President, Lady Nkiru Nwokoye said that the August Meeting was not just for fundraising but called for total reflection for spiritual progress with attendant God’s blessings.
CWO Vice-President, Dr Anthonia Chukwu speaking on this year’s theme: “Holistic Training of Children and Instructions of Catechesis… the secret behind peaceful home and better society’’, said that poor parental upbringing had done more harm than good.
She urged mothers to be alive to their responsibilities to avoid future regrets.
