As Nigerians get ready for the 2023 elections, The Auxiliary Bishop of Abuja Catholic Archdiocese Rev Anslem Omoren , has urged voters to vote for the persons that will work for the good of everyone and not only for their selfish interests.
Speaking during the solemnization of Christ the KIng and confirmation of Faithfuls at St Paul’s Catholic Church, Gwagwalada, Abuja, he cautioned citizens to learn to do the right things and vote for the person that is good. He said that christians don’t make choices for selfish interests, while reminding them that one can only be a good christian to be a good citizen.
He noted that the solemnity of Christ the King is a challenge to Christains especially Catholics, to walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ who always treated those who did wrong to him rightly. Describing him as the King of love and forgiveness, a suffering messiah, and a man who died forgiving others of their sin. He advised Christians to forgive others as God has forgiven them.
Rev Umoren also explained the importance of Confirmation, which is a sacrament of maturity which enables the Catholic faithful to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit and produce the fruits. He advised Christians to let Jesus take control of their lives so they will live well and follow the right values .
