Citizenry have been urged to always support security agents to help them carry out their duties more efficiently.
Governor Willie Obiano who made the call during the launch of Emblem Appeal Week at the Government House Awka, to officially kick off the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration, said this will help motivate them the more.
The Governor who represented by his Deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke, reminded the people that security agents make a lot of sacrifices to ensure safety for all, therefore, need the support of all.
He commended both serving and retired security agents in the state for all their efforts in safeguarding the state, and assured to continue to support them.
In his remark, the State Chairman, Nigerian Legion, Mr Benson Agbogu, appreciated Governor Obiano administration for its assistance to the state chapter of the Nigerian Legion, but complained that they are still faced with numerous challenges including poor budgetary allocation, lack of operational vehicles, lack of befitting office accommodation, and jobs.
He appealed to the government to look into the challenges with a view to addressing them.
Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an annual event set aside by the government to honour and support both serving and retired members of the Armed Forces who devoted their active working years to the service of their fatherland, and to raise fund for the upkeep of the Widows of the fallen Heroes and their dependants.
The event attracted the Army, Navy, Police, Department of State Services, Road Safety Corps, and other service commanders.
