Anambra State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Comdt. Everestus Obiyo, has encouraged members of Cooperative Societies to always imbibe the culture of saving and loan repayment to enhance their economic stability.

Mr. Obiyo gave the advice during the Ordinary General Meeting, OGM, of NSCDC Anambra State Command Staff Investment and Credit Cooperative Society Limited held at the Command Headquarters in Awka.

Mr Obiyo, represented by the Head of Anti Fraud Unit, Deputy Commandant Ohanacho Isaac, explained that to a large extent, Cooperative Society is also a type of functional economic circumstances made primarily in response to a desire on the part of Cooperators to maximize individual economic advantages.

He stressed the importance of reaching out to more officers and men, to help the Cooperative to continue to flourish.

The State NSCDC Commandant charged the association to continually review and monitor its products, services and delivery channels to ensure that they stay relevant to the needs and expectations of its members and prospective members.

According to him, practical experience has shown that a cooperating group usually finds it easier and faster to accomplish tasks set for themselves than for individuals trying to execute same task, no matter the quantum of resources available to the them.

In his remark, President, NSCDC Anambra State Command Staff Cooperative, Investment and Credit Society Limited, Dr. Tochukwu Umeohana, a Deputy Superintendent of Corps, described the association as a tool towards meeting economic needs of members .

He urged members to adhere to rules and regulations of the society for sustainability in the association’s passion in promoting the welfare of Civil Defence Personnel through numerous welfare- oriented programmes.

The meeting featured the presentation of cheques (entitlements) to retired members/ deceased members next of kin and send- forth of past executives.
