The Federal Government has urged states in the country to fund treatments of over eight hundred thousand HIV/AIDS patients in their respective states.
The Federal Government, through the National Agency for Control of AIDS, NACA, said this has become necessary as World Bank which is one of the key partners of the project, has withdrawn its funding support.
The Southwest Coordinator, Mr. Raheem Muhammed, who made this known while addressing a stakeholder meeting of Osun State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS in the state capital Osogbo, said that states must increase the funding of treatment for people living with HIV/AIDS.
Mr. Muhammed stressed the need for all stakeholders to be actively involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
NACA regretted that lockdown by countries around the world to curb the spread of COVID-19 has drastically affected the provision of preventive materials and stressed the need for all to be cautious and shun premarital or extra marital affairs.
