Crash On Oraifite-Onitsha Road: FRSC Anambra Urges Caution, Attributes Crash To Excessive Speed

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Anambra State Command, has again advised motorists and other road users to avoid excessive speeding and any condition that can compromise their safety on the road.

Corps Commander Joyce Nnennaya Alexander gave the advice following a serious crash involving three vehicles that occurred on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at approximately 9:50am along the Oraifite-Onitsha road near Nwazota Oraifite Junction.

The Sector Public Education Officer,
FRSC Anambra State Command, RC Margaret Onabe, in a statement, disclosed that a green Daf commercial truck with the registration number 9BGT18LG, driven by Mr. Sunday, collided with two other vehicles, including a Toyota Camry and a Sino truck.

As a result of this incident, three individuals were injured.

According to the report, in total, eight adult males were involved in the crash: three were injured, while five were rescued unhurt, and fortunately, there were no fatalities.

The crash was attributed to excessive speed and loss of control.

According to eyewitness accounts, the driver of the Sino truck was driving at high speed, lost control, and collided with the Camry, which was waiting at a T-junction for another truck to pass.

The impact pushed the Camry into the other truck, causing the crash.

The vehicles involved included:
A white gray/blue Sino truck with registration number NEM514XA, belonging to BUA Cement, driven by Onyekachi Chijioke.
A green Daf commercial truck with registration number 9BGT18LG.
A black private Toyota Camry with registration number GCE533FR, owned by Mr. Michael Nkeowuka.

RS 5.36 FRSC officials arrived at the scene and took the injured victims to Josephine & Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Ifite Oraifite. Traffic control measures were implemented, and the Command contacted tow truck operators to clear the obstruction caused by the crash and restore traffic flow.

Meanwhile, the Sector Commander has urged all road users to adhere to traffic regulations to prevent crashes and ensure safe travel to their destinations.
