The long awaited local government election in Cross River state, which was put off from March 28, 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic, would now hold on Saturday, May 30, 2020.

A press release signed by the Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC), Dr Mike Ushie, also gave the timetable for the said election.
The release called on all eligible voters in the State to come out and vote for their choice candidates promising that it will be one man one vote.
According to CROSIEC, Accreditation and voting starts by 8.00am on that day and closes by 3.00 pm to give room for collation.
It also notified that All movement will be restricted except those on essential and election duties, stating also that Markets and shops will remain closed during the period.
CROSIEC maintained that Voting takes place at all the polling stations and no loitering shall be entertained at such zones.
The release requested Security agencies to maintain adequate security throughout the period, stressing the need for all to adhere strictly to all precautionary measures stipulated by NCDC such as the use of face/nose masks, use of hand sanitizers/washing of hands and maintaining physical distance.
