The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged security agencies to ensure proactive deployment ahead of the Anambra governorship election and 16 by-elections across 12 states.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, made the call in Abuja during a consultative meeting with the Inter-Agency Committee on Electoral Security.
He emphasized the need for adequate protection of electoral personnel and materials, especially as the Continuous Voter Registration resumes nationwide from August 18.
National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, also warned against electoral violence and urged political actors to respect the democratic process. He stressed collaboration among security agencies to guarantee peaceful, credible elections across the country.
