Nigeria’s Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele has stated that the increase in crude oil theft in the Niger Delta region has made it difficult to grant foreign exchange to aviation operators.

Emefiele made this known on Monday, during a House of Reps meeting between the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The meeting was centered on discussing ways of resolving the issues lamented by the
airline operators of Nigeria which almost led to a shut down of operations.

He also added that the CBN will not grant any concession to the airline operators because it would give rise to giving subsidy to aviation operators.
