Spanish footballer Álvaro Morata has revealed that his recent move to AC Milan played a significant role in the breakdown of his marriage.
The 31-year-old striker, who joined Milan for 13 million Euros shortly after winning Euro 2024 with Spain, announced his separation from his wife, Alice Campello, on August 12 via Instagram.
Morata, known for his stints with Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Juventus, stated that Campello preferred to stay in Spain and was unwilling to relocate to Italy. Despite rumors, Morata insisted he was faithful throughout their marriage, saying he never cheated on her.
Campello, in a separate interview, cited post-partum depression and the frequent relocations as factors contributing to their split. The couple, who married in 2017, has four children together. Both emphasized their mutual respect and commitment to co-parenting despite the separation.
