According to media reports, thousands of youths had, on Friday, marched to the head office of the now defunct Awkuzu SARS and insisted on searching the grounds based on reports that some suspects had been killed and buried inside the compound.
However, attempts by the protesters to gain access to the compound was rebuffed by armed officers.
The angry protesters were irked by the refusal of the policemen to grant them access and resorted to blocking the Enugu-Onitsha expressway.
Anambra state police public relations officer. Haruna Mohammed in reaction to enquiries by the press said the former SARS compound has been turned into an annexe of the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and suspects held in the centre are being profiled and investigated to ascertain the allegations levelled against them.
Meanwhile, the protesters dispersed and went back to Awka from Awkuzu.
