The Northern States Governors Forum in partnership with Northern States Emirs and Chiefs have jointly condemned the subversive actions of the EndSARS protest.
The meeting , in which they endorsed the indivisibility , indissolubility and oneness of the Nationu was held at the Council Chamber, Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna on Monday.
The meeting had in attendance His Excellency,The Senate President of the Federal Republic , the Honorable Speaker and other members of the National Assembly. Also in attendance were the Chief of Staff to the President, Chairmen of the Northern States Traditional Rulers Council led by His Eminence the Sultan of Sokoto, amongst others.
According to the statement released by the Chairman of the Northern States Governors Forum, Rt Hon Simon Bako Lalong, the role of traditional rulers in containing the Menace of EndSARS protests in the North was commended.
The meeting also took note of the devasting effect of the uncontrolled social media in spreading fake news . It also called for the major control mechanism and censorship of the social media practice in Nigeria.
The meeting also commended the National Assembly and the Presidency in being proactive in addressing the issues of EndSARS protest across the country.
They also called for amicable resolutions of ASUU strikes to enable students resume their studies. It also called for collective effort in addressing the lingering challenges of the North such as Almajiri System, insecurity, illiteracy, poverty, among others.
The stakeholders also called for regular meetings of this nature and further engagement with other critical stakeholders like Religious leaders, Business Community and youth leaders.
According to the statement, the meeting approved the setting up of two major engagement commuters namely Committee on roles of Traditional Rulers and committee on youth and civil societies.
It also resolved to support the Nigerian Police Force to serve the country better and called for the strengthening of trust between the people and the police.
