Operatives of the Enugu State Command’s Central Police Station have apprehended two suspected kidnappers in Enugu State, identified as Ejike Okorie and Christopher Kindness, both residents of Ameke Ngwo Community, Enugu North Local Government Area.

According to reports, an angry mob intercepted the suspects and subjected them to assault before the police intervened. The mob had beaten them up and set their operational minibus on fire at the P-and-T Bus Stop, Okpara Avenue, following an alarm raised over the abduction of their female victim.

The police successfully arrested the suspects and rescued the abducted victim, preventing them from facing mob justice.

Confirming the incident, the state’s police spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, stated that the suspects confessed to the crime during preliminary investigations. They disclosed their involvement in “one-chance” robbery, abduction, and fraudulent activities targeting unsuspecting victims in Enugu metropolis.

Ndukwe announced that the suspects would face prosecution once investigations are concluded.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, commended the operatives for their prompt intervention in averting the lynching of the suspects. He urged citizens to adhere to the law by apprehending and handing over criminal suspects to the police for proper investigation and prosecution, rather than resorting to jungle justice.
