The Federal Government has confirmed the appointment of Prof. Lucian Chukwu as the substantive Vice Chancellor of Admiralty University, Ibuzor, Delta State.
Chukwu, a Marine Biology professor and Deputy Vice Chancellor at the University of Lagos, was announced as the new VC on Saturday. The confirmation came from the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa in a statement released on Sunday by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo who revealed Chukwu emerged top in the selection process with 83.41%.
This follows an earlier, conflicting announcement by the university’s Registrar, naming Prof. Christopher Ogbogbo for the position. The selection was conducted by KPMG to ensure transparency.
Chukwu’s five-year tenure begins on February 28, 2025, though an official appointment letter is yet to be issued. Efforts to reach him for confirmation have been unsuccessful.
