Fire Guts Part Of Ose Main Market, Onitsha

Citizens have been warned to avoid anything that can cause fire outbreak this period.

The Chief Fire Officer,
Anambra State Fire Service, Engr. Dr Martin Agbili, gave the advice following fire outbreak at No 4 Ajasa Street, Ose Main Market, Onitsha, where drums of chemical are sold.

Engineer Agbili said the incident occured at about 1 am on Saturday, 17th December 2022.

According to the Chief Fire Officer, Anambra State Fire Service, received a distress call of fire, and immediately, they deployed their fire truck and Firefighters to the scene, who battled the fire and controlled it.

He said the cause of the fire was not known as nobody was there when it started.

Engr. Agbili further informed that though no life was, the fire destroyed about 3 shops, while a lot were saved as the fire was prevented from spreading to other shops.

He reminded all that this is the peak of harmattan, stressing the need to always switch off of electrical and electronic appliances especially when they are not in use.
