Fire Outbreak At Residential Home In Umudioka, Awka
Report has it that there was a fire outbreak at about 09.40 am, on Saturday, 24th December, 2022, at umudioka village Awka, Awka South Council Area.
A release by Engr. Dr. Martin Agbili, the Fire Chief Officer, Anambra State Fire Service, said the Fire Service, received a distress call of fire outbreak at No 8 Amangwu Lane, Beside White House, Umudioka Awka.
He Described the premise as a bungalow public compound, with 12 rooms and an attached two bedroom apartment.
Engr. Agbili said they immediately deployed fire truck and and the Firefighters who battled the fire to a standstill.
According to him, the fire was as a result of Children playing with fire and dropped the matches on a cushion foam which escalated to the kitchen and involved cooking gas explosion.
Chief Agbili also disclosed that though no life was lost, the fire badly affected the building, but the firemen were able to save a lot and prevented the fire from spreading to other nearby buildings.
The Chief Fire officer reminded the citizens that also this is the peak of the harmattan, and urged all to avoid anything that can cause fire outbreak.
He advised all to switch off all electrical and electronic appliances when not in use, as well as put away any source of ignition like matches and lighter from the reach of Children.
