The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Anambra State Sector Command, in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has launched a sensitization exercise against drunk driving among commercial drivers in Anambra State.
The exercise, held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, aimed to reduce road traffic crashes and fatalities by 10% through data-driven intervention.

Speaking on the occasion, Sector Commander Corps Commander Bridget Asekahuno observed that most recorded crashes on Nigerian roads are attributed to drunk driving, urging drivers to desist from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

NDLEA Team Leader Mrs. Priscilla Onyema, highlighted the dangers in drug abuse, pointing out that it increases fatality rates and leads to family dependency and societal liability.

The sensitization exercise covered Rivers Joy Motor Park, Royal Mass Transit, Peace Mass Transit, and Eastern Mass Transit, with 14 drivers testing negative for alcohol using breathalyzers.
The drivers were commended and advised to remain steadfast, while others were cautioned against drunk driving.
