Anambra State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps says it will strengthen the existing relationship between it and National Youth Service Corps as part of measures aimed at enlightening the public on the need to obey traffic rules and regulations.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra State, Mr. Andrew Kumapayi, stated this when he received the Co-ordinator of the National youth Service Corps in Anambra State, Mr Kehinde Aremu, in his office in Awka.
Mr Kumapayi asserted that the State FRSC would encourage more Corps members to participate in NYSC Road Safety Clubs to help in traffic control and public enlightenment.
He also informed that they plan to embark on more aggressive campaigns this year, aimed at reducing road accidents to the barest minimum.
Earlier the Co-ordinator of the National Youth Service Corps in Anambra State, Mr Kehinde Aremu, who said that the aim of the visit was to ask for more partnerships with the Federal Road Safety Corps, commended the efforts of the Command in ensuring better motoring environment in Anambra State.
He appealed to the command to always discourage Corps members from night travels especially beyond six o’clock in the evening, to avoid falling victims to road traffic crashes and other security threats.
Mr. Aremu used the opportunity to call for the engagement of more Corps members as Road Safety Ambassadors by preaching Road Safety during their service year.
