Governor Chukwuma Soludo has appealed to the principals and head teachers of all the government-owned and managed primary and secondary schools in the state to support free basic education and access to qualitative education as declared by his administration.
On Saturday, 23 September, Governor Soludo met with the principals and headteachers at the International Convention Center, Awka, to discuss strategies and map up modalities for the seamless take-off and to equally ensure the success of the policy.
Some of the modalities discussed for achieving a transformation in the public educational sector include an upward review of the monthly running cost of public schools which ranged between 800 (eight hundred) naira to 10,000 (ten thousand ) naira to a minimum of 50,000 (fifty thousand) naira monthly, access to qualitative studies, scaling up infrastructure including technology to improve performance, and monitoring the learning outputs of schools.
Governor Soludo on Thursday, September 21, 2023, unveiled the “Free Basic Education Fee Policy and Access to High Qualitative Education” in all government-owned and managed schools in the state covering nursery, primary, and junior secondary schools and called for the public, community and private partnership.
