Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has promised that his government will continue to invest in sports development in view of the importance of sports to the growth of any nation.
Governor Obiano who stated this during an inspection visit to the Awka City Stadium under construction, noted that sports help to bring individuals and countries to limelight.
He urged the contractor to ensure he delivers as stipulated.
The Chairman, Anambra State Sports Development Commission, Mr. Tony Oli, acknowledged that the state had done well in sports development, saying that when completed, the stadium will help groom talents that would represent the State and country in Sports.
Mr Oli thanked the governor for his unrelenting efforts at ensuring the completion of the project.
Conducting the team round the facility, the contractor handling the project, Engineer Ebi Egbe, assured that he would deliver the project in two months time, pointing out that turf grass for the pitch is FIFA standards and one hundred percent organic.
