Detectives in Akwa Ibom have arrested a man posing as a doctor after an illegal abortion led to the death of a 35-year-old woman, Blessing Sunday Etim.
Police spokesperson DSP Timfon John confirmed the suspect, Sunday Okon Akpan, ran the so-called Full Life Medical Centre in Ibesikpo Asutan LGA, despite having no medical license.
According to reports, Akpan attempted to dump the victim’s body secretly, but was caught by a co-tenant and fled before being apprehended.
Investigators say he was only a community health worker conducting unlawful procedures.
The victim’s remains have been deposited for autopsy, while police continue investigations.
