Heavy Fire Outbreak Behind SINAI Gas Plant, Awka
The Fire Chief, Anambra State Fire Service, Engr. Dr. Martin Agbili, has advised the citizens to clear all bushes around the environment as part of measures to prevent fire outbreaks.
Engr. Dr Agbili said this has become necessary especially this dry season and harmattan to avoid had I known.
He gave the advice following a heavy Fire outbreak behind SINAI Gas Plant, in Awka.
The Anambra Fire Chief said that at about 21.22hrs (9.22pm) of Tuesday 06-02-2024, they received a distress call of heavy Fire outbreak behind SINAI Gas plant, Awka
According to him, Immediately, they deployed fire truck and gallant Firefighters to scene of fire and fought, controlled and extinguished the fire.
He pointed out that the cause of the Fire was Bush Fire which was started by unknown person(s) and caused a lot of panic within the environ.
Engr Dr Agbili however hinted that they were able to control the fire and saved the gas plant, adding that no life was lost.
He further informed that they withdrew from the fire scene at 9.41pm, and thanked all who contributed in ensuring that the fire was successfully put off.
He also reminded all of the need for early information for timely response.
The statement read:
“At about 2122hrs (9.22pm) of Tuesday 06-02-2024, Anambra State Fire Service, received a distress call of heavy Fire outbreak behind SINAI Gas plant, Awka
“Immediately, we deployed our fire truck and gallant Firefighters to scene of fire and fought, controlled and extinguished the fire.
“The cause of the Fire was Bush Fire which was started by unknown person(s) and caused a lot of panic within that environ.
“During the firefighting operations, we were able to control the fire and saved the gas plant and no life was lost.
“We withdrew from the fire scene at about 2241hrs (10.41pm) after fighting the fire to standstill and calming the situation.
“My appreciation to those that alerted us in time.
“Remember, time of distress call will always determine the time of response.
