Hon Felix Ikechi Assures of Government’s Readiness To Host Internally Displaced People

Hon. Felix Ikechi, Anambra West Transition Committee Chairman, has taken a significant step to ensure the safety and well-being of potential internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Anambra West, he conducted an inspection of the ongoing renovation work at the Crowther Memorial IDP Camp in Onitsha.

The purpose of his visit was to assess the progress of the renovation, address any challenges, and ensure that the camp’s improvement is on track and completed swiftly, which is a reflection of the chairman’s dedication to providing suitable living conditions for those who may be affected by unfortunate circumstances.

Accompanied by Hon. Onochie Uzomma, the Onitsha North counterpart, Hon. Ikechi thoroughly examined the camp’s infrastructure and hygiene standards. He expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work, commending Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to IDPs’ welfare, and urged the contractor to meet project deadlines.

It was emphasized that the renovation efforts go beyond cosmetic changes as they aim to enhance the camp’s structural integrity to withstand future challenges. The site engineer assured that the project would be completed before the IDPs move in.

The Head teacher of the school in the camp praised Hon. Ikechi for revitalizing the school through renovation work. The Chairman inspected various aspects of the renovation, including structures, water facilities, sanitation facilities, and classrooms, ensuring everything is in place for the smooth transition of IDPs.

Furthermore, he visited Bethel Primary School in Onitsha, assuring that the government is prepared to address the dilapidated sections of the school buildings, demonstrating a commitment to improving educational infrastructure.
