The caretaker President General Agulu People’s union, Hon. Onyebuchi Okpala, has assured Ndi Agulu that he is committed to developing all the critical sectors in Agulu using his influence and contact in and outside the government circle to achieve that, at the same time, bringing lasting peace and tangible development.
Hon. Onyebuchi Okpala made the statement during his first official meeting as the President General Agulu town union(Caretaker Committee) also described Agulu town as a community richly blessed with enormous Human Resources insisting that he and his executive will be guided by the terms and reference as stipulated in their appointment documents to bring lasting peace to the town Union.
According to him , Town Union in Anambra state have been made fourth tier of government and by the law, the state government plays supervisory roles on them and Agulu town union has had some political hiccups , which necessitated the state government in her wisdom through the ministry of Local government and town union matters, appointed him and his executives to bring lasting peace to the community.
On Wednesday , he commenced a road construction linking umunnowu, NneOgidi and Ifiteani Village from Union secondary school Agulu, assuring Ndi Agulu that plans are underway to invite the state government to construct more roads in Agulu to boost the community rural economy.
He explained that he had directed the village Chairman of Umunnowu and other affected Villages to notify the owners of farmlands that will be affected by the road construction, which the Nne Ogidi chairman admitted that the notifications were done about a month ago to give the farmers enough time to harvest their crops which he said are majorly cassava, insisting that crop were destroyed.
He however thanked the people of Agulu, the church, women wing and village chairmen for the massive supports they have been giving him and his executive since they were appointed warning that the state government will deal with anyone fermenting trouble and confusion in the community.
Other persons who spoke to our correspondent, commended Hon . Onyebuchi Okpala noting that since his appointment as the caretaker President General of Agulu, noticeable peace and development have birthed and is being experienced in Agulu town urging him to sustain his commitment and leadership Style.
