Following a viral tweet of assault on a twenty year-old girl, a senior lecturer at the Federal University of Lafia, Nasarawa State, Dr. Fred Ayokhai, alongside two other suspects: Bob Praise Ayokhai 23yrs, a 300 level male student of the Department of Microbiology, Federal University of Lafia and Saint-Dan Ayokhai, 21yrs old male have have been arrested by police operatives.
Ayokhai, a lecturer in the Department of History and International Studies alongside others suspected to be his family members allegedly stripped the victim, Blessing Mathias naked after she allegedly fought the Lecturer’s daughter over a man.
It was gathered that Blessing sometime last week confronted Ayokhai’s daughter, Emmanuella for trying to ‘snatch’ her boyfriend, simply identified as IG.
She confronted Emmanuella in Lafia and had a fight with her after she found out that she had her boyfriend’s mobile and was chatting with him.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nasarawa command, Ramhan Nansel(DSP) confirming the arrest , stated that the vehicle belonging to Dr Fred which was used in conveying the victim to a location along Kwandere road, Lafia where she was assaulted has been recovered.
The Command assured members of the public that no stone will be left unturned in the course the investigation as all outcome will be made public.
Meanwhile, the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, AIG Adesina Soyemi has directed that those arrested should be charged to court for prosecution upon conclusion of investigation at the State Criminal Department, Lafia.
