Inter-House Sports: Hon Onyeka Blue House Soar High In Outing

It was an exciting and remarkable moment for management, students, teachers and parents of Catholic Girls’ Secondary School, Ozubulu, Ekwusigo LGA as the school environment was ignited during the 2024 edition of the Annual Inter-House Sports Competition .

The event featured seventeen sporting activities that were grouped into six different houses namely, Red, Lemon, Blue, Orange, Yellow and Green House as they complete for laurels .

Speaking at the event, Anambra State Housing Commissioner, Hon Pauly Onyeka, advised students to compete with the spirit of sportsmanship as it is a friendly venture that will benefit them all.

The Commissioner who also featured in the Holy Mass, presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, thanked the organizers for a wonderful event as such competition will produce future sporting talents for the State .

Earlier in his Opening speech, the School Manager, Reverend Father Evaristus Muoghalu, appreciated all the guests especially the parents and principals of other neighboring schools for making out time to attend the event.

He also hailed the sponsors of the competition, Rev Fr Moughalu, and assured that the occasion would definitely ignite exciting spirit among the students, being a friendly competition which can equally address some health challenges .

In an address of welcome, the Principal of the College, Mrs Anne Okeke, expressed joy that the school established in 1962, has turned out eminent scholars that have distinguished themselves in their chosen careers.

She affirmed that the event was capable of forstering interactions, as well as enhance students relationships which will inculcate love among them.

Red House won the Football event of the competition with a penalty kicks ending in 2 goals to Zero against Lemon House.

The Blue House took Ist in Match Pass, while Lemon House came top in 4×4 race for Junior and Senior, 100 meters, Junior and Senior, as well as 200 meters Senior race.

Lemon House came first in Volleyball, Badminton, 4×4 Senior rellay with Sack race.

The Blue House is named after Hon. Pauly Onyeka, the Commissioner for Housing, Yellow House is for Engr Theo Egbe, while Orange House is for Dr Odili Ojukwu.

Also Red house is for High Chief Gilbert Obi, Lemon House for Chief Norbert Agwuncha, then, the Green House named after Chief Jude Mbegbu

High point of the competition was the presentation of gifts and cash awards to the winners
