As Anambra State joins the rest of the world to commemorate the International Youth Day 2026, the Executive Director/Project Manager, Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA)

Dr. Nkem Okeke, says he joins the Anambra State AIDS Agency (ANSACA) in celebrating the energy, creativity and resilience of young people across Anambra State.

Dr Okeke observed that the young people remain central to the State’s vision of achieving Zero New HIV Infections by 2030. In line with our State Strategic and Sustainability Transformation Plan (SSTSP 2026–2028),

He said that ANSACA is strengthening youth-friendly HIV prevention, testing and counselling services, PrEP and PEP awareness, condom education, telehealth services, school and tertiary institution interventions, as well as increased youth participation through our HIV Awareness Brigade.

“We are already taking HIV services closer to young people through campus outreaches, motor-park and community testing, moonlight testing, telehealth services and targeted awareness campaigns. We have also established the Tertiary Institutions HIV Action Committee to strengthen HIV prevention and awareness across our higher institutions.

“On behalf of ANSACA, I particularly appreciate Mr Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, for his administration’s continued investment in the future of Anambra youths through education, skills development, employment opportunities, digital innovation and improved healthcare. These investments are creating an enabling environment for our young people to thrive and contribute meaningfully to the development of our state.

“My message to every young person today is simple: Know your HIV status. Stay informed. Protect yourself. Reject stigma and misinformation. Encourage your friends to make healthy choices.

“Young people are not merely beneficiaries of the HIV response; they are partners and leaders in ending HIV.

“Together, we can achieve Zero New HIV Infections and build an AIDS-free Anambra.

Happy International Youth Day 2026!
