Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, says he doubts ongoing nuclear negotiations with the United States will succeed, citing what he called Washington’s “tough and unrealistic demands.”

Speaking in Tehran on Tuesday, Khamenei criticized the US for insisting Iran abandon uranium enrichment, calling it a “big mistake” and stressing Tehran won’t wait for American permission.

Tensions remain high as both countries exchange accusations amid indirect talks.

US officials say they cannot allow even minimal enrichment, while Iran maintains its right under international law.

The latest round of talks took place in Oman, with a possible follow-up in Europe this week.
