The kidnapped Director of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), in Anambra State, Daniel Onyishi, has regained his freedom.
Onyishi was abducted in the early hours of June 12, 2025, along Winner Road in Awka.
According to the Anambra State Police spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, he was released on Sunday and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Ikenga confirmed that the rescue was a joint effort by the police and other security agencies, including NDLEA Zone 12’s covert operatives.
While no ransom details were disclosed, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has briefed police headquarters and activated the IGP’s directive to bring the perpetrators to justice.
