Man Kills Neighbour In Oyo To Avoid Repayment Of Loan
Police in Oyo State has paraded a 40-year-old man, Mutiu Idowu, for killing his neighbour, Rufus Olusegun, who loaned him some money.
Parading the 40 year old suspect on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Adewale Osifeso, said the suspect confessed that he killed the man so that he would not repay the loan.
He said after killing the 70-year-old victim, the suspect took the vehicle he used as collateral for the loan and fled.
The PPRO said, “One Adesope Adeolu reported at Eleyele Divisional Police Headquarters that on same date, at about 0900hrs, he noticed that his neighbour’s entrance door was open; which was unusual.
“On further enquiry, he found his neighbour, one Olusegun Rufus, dead in the living room in the pool of his blood. He stated further that he suspected that the Rufus might have been murdered.
“Based on investigation and credible intelligence, one Mutiu Idowu was arrested and he later confessed to have killed the Rufus in order not to pay the money he loaned from him. The vehicle that he used as collateral for the loan which he stole after the murder of Rufus has also been recovered” the PPRO added.
