A 26-year-old man, Aliyu Na Idris, who recently placed an advert to sell himself for twenty million naira over hardship has been arrested in Kano by the State Sharia Police (Hisba Board).
Idris last week disclosed that he had placed himself for sale in Kaduna state, but could not get a buyer so he decided to move to Kano.
He told reporters that he had received several offers which he rejected because they did not reach the amount he wanted to sell himself.
According to him, many people have offered him various prices of ten million, five million and three hundred thousand naira in Kano, but he refused because as the amounts were less than what he expected.
On why he resorted to selling himself, Idris explained that since his tailoring business failed due to financial crisis, which made him lose his customers and became financially handicapped, he decided to place himself for sale at twenty million naira, because he has no other means of survival.
When asked what he would do with the money, Idris said he would give his parents ten million naira; he would give five million naira as tax to the state where he was bought, the person who helped in advertising him will be rewarded with two million naira, while the remaining three million naira would be kept for him under the care of the buyer for his daily upkeep.
Confirming the arrest in an interview, the Hisba Board’s Commander General, Haruna Ibn Sina, said what the young man did was unlawful.
