Maureen Mmadu Set To Revive Football In Anambra Through Establishing A Football Camp For Girls

Veteran Super Falcons star, Maureen Mmadu and the Ambassador Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) has launched a football talent hunt for young girls aged between 10 and 15 years with the aim of buying capacity in female football and reviving the recent flagging interest in the game.

The talent hunt which is tagged Anambra Football Kiddies Camp: Discovering the next Super Falcons, seeks to gather 300 talented or interests youths who would be in closed camp between December 17 and 23, 2020 for intensive on and off filed training and mentorship.

Speaking to sports writers on Saturday in Awka, she said that as a coach developer that has played and worked in European clubs, her intention is to give back to Nigeria , particularly Anambra where it started.

She also stated that participants will get football kits including bags, set of jersey, boots, shin guard, stockings and other accessories for free.

She beckoned on parents to go to designated points in Awka, Nnewi and Onitsha and obtain the application forms for their kids.

In her career, Mmadu has won 101 national caps , which is one of the highest in Nigeria and Africa. She expressed desire for many girls to come into the game of football so they would enjoy the fame and fortunes the game provides.

She also hoped to develop players that would form the nucleus of the Anambra Female Football club which the state government was establishing.
