The new Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Charles Ebuebu, has promised to follow due process in the regulation of broadcast stations in Nigeria.

In an exclusive interview with news men on Monday, Ebuebu, who replaced Balarabe Illelah as Director-General of NBC last October, said there will be an end to arbitrary sanctions on media stations while not sparing consistent wrongs by defaulters.

He also stated that the NBC Code will be reviewed to facilitate an enabling industry that allows operators to thrive. Ebuebu emphasized that the new approach will be transparent and allow operators to speak and defend themselves.

He added that the issues will be analyzed based on the code, and a code review will be undertaken to address perceptions of the NBC being overreaching in the application of sanctions.
