Medical experts warn against self-medication in view of it implications as the world reflects on International Day Against Drug Abuse And Trafficking.

As the world reflects on the International  Day Against Drug Abuse set aside by the United Nations, there have been more reactions to the menace of drug abuse.

Barring his mind on the issue, a former Awka Zonal Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr. Oliver Onwughalu, has warned against drug abuse which has occasioned colossal deaths across the world.

 In a message to this year’s International Day Against Drug Abuse, Dr.Onwughalu expressed worry over the indulgence of youths in illicit drugs, noting that about 70 percent of  organ failures are caused  by drug abuse and self medication.

 To this effect, the medical expert warned people against purchasing drugs on the counter without proper prescription from qualified medical practitioners.

 According to Dr.Onwughalu, drug administration should only be handled by health experts to avert the implications and consequences of drug maladministratration.
